"Sacral nerve stimulation"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

I have just read about another lady and I am so happy (obviously not for her) that I am not the only person who has felt this. But I have just had my second procedure, the first one was bad enough so I thought surely this one cannot be worse. I was assured they were better prepared this time and I was in good hands and the nursing staff were fantastic. But I have to say I was disappointed in my own consultant who made me feel like I couldn't deal with pain. When in fact I have a high pain threshold, it didn't cross their mind that it might actually be something else. Making a patient feel this way I think is incredibly wrong. Now reading other people's experiences I know I'm not alone in this. If it wasn't for another consultant in the room I'm not sure how I'd have coped. I feel they really need to look at this procedure.

Dear Anuna

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I forwarded your post to the Service Manager for Urology and she has advised that she is sorry that this appointment was not what you anticipated and that it has led to a loss of confidence in your consultant. I would like to offer you the opportunity to discuss this further so that we can work to restore your confidence. Please feel free to contact Miss Amie McCrae by email at amie.mccrae@nhs.scot, who will be happy to arrange a conversation with you on an individual basis.

Kind regards

Liz Drummond
