My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in May 22. it was a complete bolt out of the blue, even though i have a nursing background, it felt like a very scary and frightening time
He has been under the care of the paediatric diabetic team in Antrim hospital since that time and is now due to transfer over to the adult team.
His care has been exceptional , nothing is ever too much the entire team are amazing and so knowledgeable. the reassurance and support has been wonderful all along his journey from diagnosis and adapting to life and then this year receiving an insulin pump.
His PNDS Brenda has been a total angel in nurses uniform and has a lovely relationship with our son, understanding him and how best to support a teenager/young adult dealing with it.
His consultant Dr C Stewart has been wonderful and always so calm , helpful reassuring and kind.
The entire team have been amazing ( Brenda , Carol Anne , Jacqueline , Jackie and Julie ) and we would have been lost without them , we now move over to adult services and will miss their input but we are so grateful for all they have done.
"The entire team have been amazing"
