"Took time to reassure me and explain carefully"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Acute medical admissions (AMU) Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Intensive & Critical Care Unit

(as a service user),

I wanted to take a moment to thank some of the staff involved in my care recently. Firstly a big shout out to Jessica, a doctor on AMU. She noticed when I wasn't coping and took time out to speak to me, and to explain my condition in terms I could understand, treating me with respect and dignity. Also on AMU an HCA called Vicky who really went above and beyond. Vicky took time to get to know me in the short while I was with AMU, she made me feel like a person not a patient.

On CCU I was very impressed by Dr Brunchi. Another doctor out of the many I saw who didn't just tell me "it would be okay" but noticed my distress and took time to reassure me and explain carefully to me what was happening when I needed a pacemaker fitted. The nurses on CCU were wonderful. Linn, Jodie, Zanetta and Keithleen, each one helped to get me through what was a very difficult experience for me.

Thank you to them all. They are a credit to the RD&E.
