I spoke to my doctor regarding my concerns with my daughter and her anxiety, after several appointments and discussions it was agreed that we would push for an assessment for ADHD we were referred to the Neurodevelopmental services based in Newmains Health Centre which was accepted back in January 2023.
Since this referral I have received 1 letter to confirm we are on the list, but I've not heard anything since. Anytime I call over to the service the answer message states they are currently working on summer 2021 referrals, which means it could be another 2 years to get an appointment and we have already been waiting for almost 3 years. This is very worrying as a parent as daily life is very challenging with my daughter and her issues have worsened a lot over this time. We have spoke with the school as our main concern at times can be our daughter's anxiety which they provided funding for, and she had weekly 1-2-1 sessions with a child counsellor at her school.
I don't know where else we can go from here, it's absolutely heart-breaking to watch her struggle on a daily basis and I can see that it is exhausting for her. My own mental health seems to be getting worse as time goes on and this is affecting our family home life a lot.
