"Cancelled surgery"

I had been on a surgeons list for a knee replacement for 15 months. As I had waited so long I was swapped to a different surgeon.

They tried putting me off at the first appointment telling me knee replacements don't work and I would be in the 20% where it went very bad.

As the first surgeon was happy to do it I said I wanted to go ahead.

I went in recently for the operation. The surgeon told me knee replacements don't work, they make things worse and cause a lot more pain. They said I would get a deep seated infection and my bones may fracture. Said I would be worse off and would take 3 years to recover. How do they know this? I informed them I have had many operations and recovered well and never had an infection.

They refused to do the operation although I had been got ready.  

Why was I swapped to this surgeon who had no intention of operating? Why was I got ready for surgery when they had no intention of doing the surgery?

The nurse caring for me was absolutely wonderful as was the staff member who took my blood as I have a fear of needles. 

Those two wonderful staff members were the only good thing.

The hospital was extremely cold. I was extremely cold waiting.

One staff member was heart warming. I wish they could be cloned. I will always remember them and their kindness. I was terrified yet I felt calm with them. 

The surgeon did say some inappropriate things. 

They also told me everyone had complained about the knee replacements they had done. It should not have got that far though.

I was hoping to have a knee replacement allowing me to get back to work doing what I love, not cast aside like rubbish to carry on suffering.
