"I believe serious changes are needed"

About: Highly Specialist Services / Sheffield Eating Disorder Service (SEDS)

(as the patient),

I feel I receive absolutely no support despite my significant daily struggles.

I find my Dr is so rude; they seem to have no understanding of any mental health issues or neurodivergence, to be honest they could have a better bedside manner. I find them insulting and dismissive of anything that doesn’t agree with their agenda of sending anyone they can to be NG tube fed in hospital.

The service’s communication between staff and service users as well as between staff members themselves is atrocious. My requests for support and appointments are never passed on to the appropriate people and communication about appointments etc. are never clear and are often not even shared.

The receptionists I have encountered are often rude and offhand.

Day service doesn’t work for me because they send people home for losing weight; if someone with a restrictive eating disorder is losing weight they need more support not less.

Every issue I experience is put down to not eating enough calories or variety of food, even if it has nothing to do with food or if it predates the eating disorder. This means that I don’t get the holistic support I actually need and are just told to eat more and eat foods I don’t like/can’t tolerate.

I believe serious changes are needed for this service.
