"Compassionate service"

I’m writing this to convey my deep felt thanks for the assistance that the team have provided over these past months.

I’ve had the privilege to have the occupational Health teams support as both an inpatient and with the Hub and I can honestly say that your teams have helped in getting me out the door, give me something to concentrate on and also have a friendly ear to talk to.

I have to say that I have been embarrassed on several occasions to have a combination of Podraig, Rachel, Terri and Maggie turn up to play pickleball or badminton with just me. Every day they were encouraging, friendly, talkative and professional during the exercise and then chatting over a coffee.

I was amazed that you were able to secure talented individuals like James and Philip who gave one hundred percent every day.

The vast amounts of activities available was on another level and I really admire Podraig as he is constantly trying to get more service user involvement. His sense of humour made me laugh and it’s clear that he is an excellent manager as your staff had nothing but compliments for his empathy, work ethic and compassion.

I had previous dealings with Terri and Jane and over the years they have gained confidence and the service they provide to everyone is first class. I’ve never been in any environment where there were awkward silences and their recall as to my wife and pets is commendable taking into account how many people they interact with each week.

Rachel is an excellent addition to the team. Her years in PICU shows and when she is present in the room I always felt calm and safe and I see why she was successful in the recent vacancy. Rachel is quite open about her family life and I couldn’t believe that there was another side to her as she is always calm and professional.

I had the privilege to meet Maggie (student) and she is awesome. She put everything into her role and her life story leading to her success into getting offers for OT, nursing and physiotherapy is inspirational. Her experience working in her local restaurant along with the kids in her local school really shines through. I sat on many days admiring her maturity and how easily she integrated into the team. Maggie received instruction from her peers very well and I have no doubt she will excel in her career.

Finally I’d just like to thank Mairead for selecting amazing people to provide the service people like me who are in need. I’m probably one of the newer service users having been admitted into Holywell in 2022 but all your staff, Lindsay, Melissa, Jayne and the rest were all a massive help.

So thanks to you and all your staff for the work and compassionate service you provide and I wish everyone all the best.
