I had a procedure at Lewisham Hospital which unaware to me was the removal of my healthy ovaries. Medical terms was not explained and I thought the surgeon knows best. The surgery has left me sad with other medical issues that cannot be explained by the clinicians themselves.
I have gone through the formal channels to get an accurate answer but to no avail. I had to go on HRT reluctantly because my symptoms were so severe to bear, but that has not made any difference to my wellbeing. I have had talking therapy, counselling and now on antidepressants to calm things a little.
My system is not adjusting to or coping with the sudden removal of my ovaries. Its been a struggle to be normal again. Suicidal thoughts, anger, anxiety, just to name a few. I want to get my story out there in order for healthcare providers to better understand what their limits are and help others to avoid unnecessary medical procedures.
There is a purpose for the ovaries in a woman's body. I still need my ovaries to function. God puts them there for a reason, they have many functions. My ovaries were still functioning and healthy and serving the purpose for which they were meant for. Doctors, surgeons think they know best, they are wrong.
I am no longer the same.
