"Knee replacement"

About: University Hospital Ayr / General Surgery University Hospital Ayr / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

First knee replacement was very good and had no issues. This time a completely different experience due to anaesthesia. Consultant excellent, staff at station 16 excellent and staff at suite H excellent, my main issue which caused me trauma, was being given too much anaesthesia at my spinal, which led me to being given something else. We don’t know what that has caused all my issues and adverse reactions to certain things. I would like to know what I was given as it was unclear in my medical records at the post op.

Dear Ma14

Thank you for posting on Care Opinion. Feedback from patients is very important to us and I am grateful to you for sharing your experience.

Thank you for your kind words in relation to the staff who looked after you. I was sorry to hear that you had issues with your spinal anaesthetic. We would be happy to look into this further for you if you want to get in touch direct.

I can be contacted via email on karen.andrews@aapct.scot.nhs.uk. Please email with your name and date of birth and I can speak to the anaesthetic team to get the clarity you are seeking.

I look forward to hearing from you.

kind regards

Karen Andrews, General Manager
