Had my baby at Antrim Area Hospital mid November. All midwives were fantastic help but for me personally there were two I couldn't have done it without. My delivery midwife Ashleigh she got me through when I was ready to give up she stayed with me the entire time and is worth her weight in gold. To bring extremely supportive and reasurring during guide hard times in labour, to giving me the sterness when I felt like giving up. And also for putting up with me, I cannot remember everything about my labour but im sure there were parts that i maybe wasnt the nicest of people and she never once raised an eyebrow or gave me a side glance, she cared for me and got me through the hardest journey ever.
Also my night time ward midwife Shannon her attention of care was amazing she was so dedicated and I dont know how I would of done it without her. She supported me in a difficult feeding journey made me realise that you can't be a superhero and that help is ok. She got me to sleep when I was beyond exhausted and kept my precious newborn safe for me. Unfortunately we had a little health bump but it was Shannon who detected it and solved the issue straight away with professionalism and compassion, she never judged me or made me feel like I was wrong or was over reacting to anything, she spoke to me from a mums perspective and help guide me to make the best possible care choices for my newborn. For a midwife who is only newly qualified I cannot imagine the amount of mothers that will be in her care during her career and I know they will feel the same support, compassion and respect that I felt whilst under her care.
"Support, compassion and respect"
