I want to express my gratitude to ward 17 and the wider teams at borders general hospital staff for the care and compassion i and my husband recieved when i attended their ward mid Nov for the harrowing operation to remove my tumour (breast cancer).
I was first introduced to Dee my nurse for the day, her happy, professional, caring aptitude shone through and i knew i was in good hands. As healthcare professional myself it heightened my anxiety but the calm and well organised ward and staff and the overall feel of the ward put me at ease.
I was meant to be a day case but ended up staying overnight for observation. I cant remember the night shift nurse but she was a young, confident, caring nurse and i had the best sleep knowing i would be cared for.
My whole experience from ward to theatre, recovery and back to ward cannot be put into words, all i can say is a massive thank you to all involved in my care, i am so thankful to have been cacooned in your care, this has aided my recovery and i have never been so proud of you all and tell my story.
"Excellent care"
