"Amazing Nurses and Staff in Dermatology"

About: Dermatology / Dermatology Outpatients Dermatology Surgery / General Dermatology Surgery

(as the patient),

I have a needle phobia. I was absolutely terrified about my upcoming appointment for skin surgery at dermatology outpatient's department in Ninewells.

On the day, Mandy called me to come in early. She was so patient, kind and really made a difference in settling my nerves. She went above and beyond.

When it was then time for my surgery, Mandy handed me over to Stephanie, who would be a nurse in the surgery. She made me feel at ease and calmed me down as we walked through to the surgery room, where I met Katrina (the nurse who would perform the procedure). Both nurses were patient, kind and played along with every silly little thing I requested to make me feel more at ease.

The surgery was terrifying and took a lot longer than I guess it normally would, as I had to take regular breaks. But Stephanie talked to me about her dog, and work, and everything and anything, whilst Katrina worked away. They got me through the surgery, going above and beyond to make it as comfortable and “pleasant” for me as possible.

I couldn’t have done this without them, being so kind, patient and letting me take my time to face my biggest fear - I’m forever grateful.
