"A joy to meet and be around"

I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone involved in our care, while I didn’t manage to get every name I will remember every person we came across for their kindness and positive attitude. 

I attended maternity assessment as my labour had started at home. From the initial phone call to arriving in the department myself and my husband felt listened to and supported. 

Mia and student nurse on shift settled us in and provided excellent care and guidance. They prioritised pain relief and comfort. Their encouragement and support really allowed me to believe in myself. Each step they took allowed me to be in control of my labour and they respected my wishes. 

Things happened very quickly and with the support of midwife Lyn our baby was born in maternity assessment. Everyone remained calm and professional and allowed this to be a positive experience. I felt safe and well cared for. 

I was then taken to the delivery suite where we met Pam and Jade who were amazing at every point. They were the such a calm presence in a whirlwind of a morning and really contributed to the most amazing birth experience. They built such a lovely rapport with my husband and I in such a short space of time. They supported my wishes and helped me make informed decisions. We were able to spend lots of time bonding with our baby and each other while knowing we were in safe hands should we need them. 

Pam really is what I imagine a midwife hopes to be. She is kind, relatable and was a joy to meet and be around. I don’t think there are enough words to describe the amazing experience we had but I hope this highlights how invaluable all these staff members are and the lasting impact they can have on a women’s journey to giving birth.
