On a Friday in November I had an appointment at the Heart Failure Hub Service at the Exeter Community Hospital, Hospital Lane, Whipton, Exeter.
I was really worried about this appointment and what would happen. 9:15am I arrived and the receptionist was lovely smiling and kind, explained where I needed to go. I did not have to wait long, a Lady called Shelia came and collected me for an ECG she was lovely. After that I waited a short time and then was collected by another lovely lady who took me to have Transthoracic Echocardiogram she was lovely too. Then I waited to see Nurse Cherry for the results. She was superb took the time and trouble to explain what they had found and assured me this could be managed, I was so frightened when I went in - she did not hurry she explained everything and answered all my many questions, she was so patient and kind, and I left feeling I can manage this and everything will be alright.
Just to have someone to talk to about the fears and have the condition explained so thoroughly - made all the difference - they are a superb team there so professional and caring. I just felt for the first time in a long time that the NHS had got it right. I am home now and feeling that life will be okay and I will be able to continue and take care of myself.
Thank you to the lovely staff at the Heart failure Hub at Whipton you are so special and made such a difference to someone who needed reassurance at a very difficult time. Thank you.
"The wonderful staff and the help they gave me"
