"Father's excellent stroke treatment"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Stroke Care Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Stroke Rehabilitation (Wards 56 and 57) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

In June my normally fit and healthy father - who is in his 80s -  took a stroke. The neighbours were very quick to realise what was happening and called the ambulance. He was taken to Crosshouse Hospital stroke ward and then to Queen Elizabeth in Glasgow for treatment .

We were not expecting much , being fit enough to go home we hoped , however he made a full recovery. No one can believe how well he is after seeing him when not well, he is back to doing everything he did before- except driving which he's not been signed off for yet , much to his disappointment.

The care and treatment he and Mum received from everyone from the ambulance service to the hospital was excellent both in treatment and explaining what was happening to the family.

We are so thankful that they were able to give him such a good outcome and they were so happy in how well he responded to the treatment.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, papa6101.

I see that your feedback relates to a number of services. I'm responding on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

It’s great to hear that the ambulance crew responded quickly and played a part in getting your father the urgent care he needed. Your kind words about the excellent treatment and clear communication will mean a lot to the team.

If you’re happy to do so, please email sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, date, time and address of the call out, along with your Care Opinion username. This will help us match your story to the crew and share your appreciation with them.

Thank you again for taking the time to write such a thoughtful post. We wish your father continued good health and hope he’s back to enjoying all his usual activities soon.

Warm wishes,
Marie
