"Tulip Suite Ninewells Hospital"

At our 20 weeks scan we received the devastating news that our baby girl had spina bifida, following further scans this was confirmed alongside further complications being found on baby’s brain. The next few days/weeks involved lots of appointments filled with many choices and options for myself and my partner. A special thanks to our consultant Dr Banerjee and our screening midwife Jordan who treated us with such dignity and compassion. Jordan ensured we were provided with all the appropriate information to ensure we could make informed choices and remained kind and caring throughout the stages of our pregnancy.

Around 2 months ago we were in the Tulip Suite on the labour ward where we gave birth to our beautiful daughter at 22 weeks. I just wanted to say a special thank you to the midwives and other health care staff that looked after us during our stay. A special thanks to Ros, Lesley, Leah and Cally for providing us with outstanding care and attention which was greatly appreciated during such a difficult time. Everyone was so kind and took the time to listen to us and learn about our wishes for our daughter and our care.

I would also like to say a very special thank you to Lesley who looked after us and was there when our daughter was born. We were truly touched by Lesley and cannot thank her enough for the level of care she provided to me, my daughter and family during such a difficult time. Lesley followed our wishes perfectly and was caring, thoughtful and always gave us options and choice in relation to the care we received. I cannot thank Lesley enough for making us feel so included, safe and cared for during such a heart-breaking time. She went in our opinion above and beyond and for that we will be forever grateful. I always say it takes a very special person to be a nurse and in my opinion that person is Lesley. I truly hope that one day we can meet Lesley again under better circumstances but until then thank you from the bottom of our hearts again.
