"We could not have asked for a better midwife"

About: Community Maternity Care / Wishaw Community Maternity Maternity Care / AMU (Alongside Midwifery Unit)

(as the patient),

I was looked after by the Lanarkshire community midwife team and my named midwife was Emma.  Emma was a breath of fresh air for us, she took being our midwife to the next level and offered us so much personal support as my pregnancy wasn’t all plain sailing. Emma would frequently check in on me out with appointments to check how things were and was very actively involved in every milestone in my pregnancy, from the dating scan to the gender reveal. Emma listened to everything I had to say from answering all my questions to settling my worries and was such a great emotional support for me - I couldn’t have wished for better.

I delivered my  baby in University Hospital Wishaw at the end of October and had the most amazing experience. Our midwife Karen and student midwife Taylor went above and beyond for us and made us feel so at ease and comfortable. Labour was a pleasant experience due to these two women, from making us feel so included and keeping us informed the entire time to Karen even coming in the next shift and taking back over my care despite me being postnatal - and to then us being transferred to the postnatal ward and Karen coming down to the ward to check in on us and ask how we were and offer more help and support - we could not have asked for a better midwife!
We stayed a night in postnatal and received great support, particularly from Claire, who helped with feeding support when my baby was struggling to latch and made me feel a lot better in myself by telling me tips and tricks to try and improve this latch.
