"They made dark days brighter"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Urology (Ward 11c)

(as the patient),

I recently had an operation to remove my left kidney with a tumour attached, after which I was on ward 11c for a week before being discharged home to recuperate further.

Obviously this was a time of some anxiety for myself and my husband, but this was made so much more bearable by all the amazing team who looked after me. I want to formally thank them all for their outstanding care, compassion and consistent good humour. Each and every member of staff, whatever their role and responsibilities, showed immense consideration for my wellbeing and took time to ensure any questions I had were answered and any concerns addressed.

Over and above their diligence to their professional duties they never failed to lose sight of me as an individual  … in short they made dark days brighter.

Unfortunately I don’t know all their names, but I do wish to make very special mention of the following members of staff who will remain in my memory for their kindness and support …. Huge Thanks to:

Paul, Ula, Yeoma, Erenga, Chris, Pat, Rebecca and Fiona. (I may have spellings wrong.)

I hope they receive the well earned recognition they deserve for their excellent commitment to their various roles in the care of patients.

Dear LouLou06

Thank you so much for sharing your experience on Care Opinion.

Undergoing major surgery can be an anxious and overwhelming time, and we’re truly glad to hear that the team on Ward 11C were able to make your stay more comfortable and reassuring.

It means a great deal to know that their kindness, good humour and consistent attention to your wellbeing helped you through those difficult days. Our team always tries to care for people as individuals, not just patients, so your kind words really do mean a lot.

We will make sure your heartfelt thanks are passed on to the whole ward team, including Paul, Ula, Yeoma, Erenga, Chris, Pat, Rebecca and Fiona. They will be touched to hear how much their support meant to you.

Wishing you all the very best with your continued recovery.

Kind regards

Kevin
