"The care of my mum"

About: Medicine For The Elderly / Isla & Clova Ward

(as a relative),

My mum was recently transferred from Ninewells to Whitehills, Forfar. It was meant to be for rehabilitation, but it quickly became apparent that she was too ill and remained on bed rest.

The care from staff, especially Ahmed and Elaine, were absolutely fantastic, keeping us informed and up to date with her condition, seeing the family were ok when visiting. All the staff were attentive to my mum, caring and respectful and could not do enough to make sure she was comfortable. She could not have been cared for any better.

Things deteriorated with mum and we were told it was now end of life. The staff were aware of this change and expressed in their actions that they understood what that meant to us hearing that and made sure we were ok by being very supportive. Throughout the whole time we were there until mum passed away, they could not have done anymore for us than they did.

Their honesty, attentiveness, kindness and support to us all won't ever be forgotten and although so sad as it was mum never made it home I am glad she passed where she did with the staff in Clova ward Whitehills.

Thankyou for taking the time to share your experience with us during this very difficult time.

Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your mum

Our focus as a team is on providing comprehensive comfort care and ensuring our patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect. It is very important to us that you and your family felt supported and cared for during your mums final days at Whitehills and that her needs were met.

It is a very difficult time watching a loved one approach end of life and its nice to hear that our staff, particularly Ammad and Elaine were so attentive and kept you well informed of the changes in your mums condition.

I will ensure your kind words are shared with the nursing team and especially Ammad and Elaine.

Thankyou again for leaving feedback on Care opinion

With kind regards

Susan
