"Missing Surgeon"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Day Surgery Unit

(as the patient),

I had been waiting for a date for surgery for 12 months when a date came through.

I'd been through Pre-Assessment, Phone calls and then the date of my Elective surgery was brought forward, requesting that I arrived at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston at 07:30

I moved my business appointments and arranged transport there and back.

I arrived at 07:30 and was checked in, and told I was the third in line, I had more health questions, BP and BMI checks (I had already completed this in my Pre Assessment).

At 10:45, two nurses came through and said -  we can’t find the surgeon, we will have to discharge you.

My wife had expected to pick me up around 16:00 and had work commitments, she managed to rearrange meetings and picked me up at 15:00.

7.5 hours after I had been dropped off.

Dear MFull

Apologies to hear that you didn’t receive your surgery on the day it was planned. In order for me to be able to respond fully and accurately could you kindly email me your full details e.g. name, date of birth and hospital number (if you know it) and I can look into this further for you.

Kind Regards

Carly
