"The care my son received was excellent"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / West of Scotland Major Trauma Ward (ward 1c)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was in a car accident and was transferred from Crosshouse Hospital to the Queen Elizabeth where he went from ICU to the Major Trauma Ward.

The care my son received was excellent. He was in the Trauma Ward for 5 days and discharged home on day 5. My son at 19 was kept up to date with all aspects of his care with staff chatting to him in a way he was able to understand and be heard.

Any important information was shared with me, his Mum to ensure we were all aware of the steps in his care. The level of communication at every level within the team made a hard time so much easier and I will be forever grateful to the team.

Dear S+3,

Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m truly sorry to hear about your son’s accident – that must have been an incredibly difficult time for you both. It’s wonderful to know that the care he received at Queen Elizabeth was so attentive and compassionate.

The way the team kept your son informed and involved, while also ensuring you were updated, speaks volumes about their professionalism and empathy. Clear communication and genuine care can make such a difference during challenging moments, and it sounds like they provided exactly that.

Your gratitude will mean a lot to the staff who supported you and your son.

Thank you again for sharing and wishing your son a speedy onward recovery,

Debbie Macintyre
