I recently visited my local National Treatment Centre to have my plaster cast removed after having ankle surgery. When the staff opened the cast there was a huge hole in my leg, obviously the stitches/staples hadn't been strong enough to keep the wound together.
At the time, there was no consultant available to have a look, so an emergency appointment was made. The appointment was booked for 13.30pm, so I arranged patient transport to take me to the hospital.
I arrived at 13.25pm and waited outside the consulting rooms. It was not until 14.45pm that I was told that the consultant wasn't even in the premises! The consultant had 6 or 7 patients to see in the afternoon. You would have thought that someone in their position would have a diary to check. I feel very let down by this experience.
