"My mum not being able to get anything to eat"

My mum was getting a blood transfusions at the ECAS ward at the Victoria Hospital. The nurse said I couldn't stay with my mum due to space, my mum was going to be 5hrs. I said I could wait downstairs to make sure she gets lunch due to my mum being allergic to lactose, the nurse said they would phone to kitchens to make sure.

I left, when I returned to get my mum she hadn't had anything to eat due to the sandwiches being pre packed and brought into the hospital. The nurse offered her a biscuit and couldn't tell my mum if it had milk in it.

My mum has triple negative breast cancer and receives chemo weekly, me or my sister have to go downstairs to buy her something so she has something to eat during long chemo days. We are lucky we can stay on chemo days so we can get mum lunch. Everyone else on wards get sandwiches etc what would happen if my mum was to stay in hospital?
