"A minor accident and the great support I had"

About: St Andrews Community Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit

(as the patient),

I tripped on a pavement kerb that was covered in leaves and hit my head on the pavement.  I was bleeding profusely. Two cars stopped to help me and a postman in his van. The postman immediately said he would take me to the Community Hospital Minor Injuries Unit, St Andrews, Fife which was nearby. He took me there, brought me in and left me at the desk.  I was immediately seen by the nurses there.  The bleeding was stopped and the wound dressed. The help at the Minor Injuries Clinic was excellent - kind, cheerful, reassuring and competent.  They patched me up, did the thorough check for concussion and even did a quick mend of my glasses which had broken and I couldn't have felt better looked after.  Thank you to everyone.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. While we’re sorry to hear about your unexpected encounter with the pavement (and those perilous leaves!), we’re delighted that our team at the Minor Injuries Unit was able to turn a painful experience into one where you felt cared for and reassured.

Your feedback really captures what we strive for every day, kindness, competence, and some creativity! Mending glasses is definitely above and beyond the job description of our team!

We’ll make sure your story reaches the team, I am sure they will be thrilled to know their efforts made such a positive difference.

Wishing you a smooth recovery.

Best Wishes

Fran
