"Neglect of needs"

About: Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Ysbyty Glan Clwyd / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

My wife was admitted with a minor ankle fracture, but being confused climbed out of bed during the night, fell, and broke her other ankle so badly that surgery was required.

She then ended up on Ward 7, where she had repeated falls to the extent that the staff stopped reporting them to me, her husband. She was kept in a room where the television did not work and the only view was the hospital's heating system. There was no mental stimulation and the physio prescribed was simply not carried out.

She caught covid, then norro virus, then covid again. She deteriorated physically and mentally to such an extent that I have no hesitation in saying that the staff seemed not to tell the whole truth-I feel that the lack of care contributed materially to her death.
