"An awful, really bad experience"

About: Whiston Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Was taken by ambulance from St Helens hospital late a couple of weeks ago. It's a secure ward meaning it's locked I was told you have to give 24 hours notice if you want to leave, which didn't make me feel really good at the time . Was taken to this bed by these two nurses and they started to take my clothes off, I asked why, they wouldn't say, was going on about my heels and feet, proceeded to get a camera and take photos of my body. I asked why again and they just said they have to. Felt very upset and vulnerable laying there. When they asked me to lie on my side I said I couldn't as I'd a fractured pelvis but they still insisted on me laying on my side, they wanted pictures of my bottom and looked at other parts.

They put a night gown on me asked did I want a drink, and I said yes, thanks. I drifted off to sleep then something made me wake up and this nurse was taking my bags of things. I asked them where were they going and they said to count them. I said they were mine and they had no business taking them without my permission, but anyway they went through everything, even underwear.

I was supposed to get physio but was stuck in a chair from 6.30 am to 8.30 at night no exercise, nothing. I lasted five days there, I asked my son to get me out, I felt depressed and was an awful, really bad experience. The nurses I met weren't nice. Had an accident in my trousers as I couldn't get to the toilet, this nurse told me they were short staffed and I couldn't anyway. After complaining they showered me, wouldn't let me do it myself.

This has to be the worst experience I've ever had to endure. In my experience this place wasn't about physiotherapy, it was about old people being made to sit in a chair all day like I had to and physio was next to nothing. It's left me in a way  wondering do they do this to everyone who comes in.
