"Excellent service"

About: Western Isles Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

Whilst on holiday in the Western Isles I broke my hip, and I was transferred to Stornoway hospital. Despite the traumatic experience of breaking my hip and having to wait a few days (due to weather) for my transfer / operation, it could have been so much worse if it had not been for the outstanding treatment and care I received by every single person I met. I would like to thank the staff, nurses, doctors, consultants and therapists at the hospital, in particular the nurses and staff on ward 3 / surgical ward. Every single one of them (including the ladies in the radiology department and the gents and ladies cleaning the rooms and offering tea & coffee) was kind, caring and empathetic. I remain extremely grateful for the way I was looked after and would like to extend my sincere thanks. I would also like to thank the canteen/kitchen staff for the choice and quality of the meals on offer, the food was excellent.

Dear D189

Thank you very much for taking the time to contact us about your recent care experience in Western Isles Hospital.

I understand how difficult it must have been for you being delayed due to weather for patient transfer to get your operation.

I am so glad to hear that this was made easier for you due to the care and attention you received throughout your stay.

We are proud of how all our staff work together as a team to provide the best possible care to our patients and I have shared your lovely feedback with the teams involved and asked that this be made widely available to staff.

I know how much our staff appreciate hearing from our patients and wish you well with your ongoing recovery.

kind regards

Denise Symington
