"A heartbreaking experience"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Early Pregnancy Assessment Service

(as the patient),

I was told at my 9 week scan my baby had no heartbeat. I opted for surgical management, they gave me a date to come back the next week.

I came back, everything was fine with staff etc. I was told to get ready for the procedure and I did, When they came to move me they sat a white plastic tub at the foot of my bed, I was already quite distressed and this just made everything so much worse it was just a really horrible addition to an already horrible and heartbreaking experience.

Being wheeled to theatre unable to breathe and in tears from sheer distress and staring at this white tub which was quite obviously what my baby was going to end up in. Could it not have been kept elsewhere until it was needed? Very distressing.

Dear virgoqf39,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feelings on Care Opinion at such a difficult time. I am so sorry for your loss.

I have reflected with the staff and the Team Leader in our Early Pregnancy Unit and moving forward we will change our process.

Apologies that part of your care was insensitive and very distressing for you.

Take Care
