"I received the very best care from all members of staff"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I was admitted via A&E after getting pancreatitis from a gallstone which had moved and caused an obstruction in my bile duct. I don’t think I have ever felt so unwell or frighted in my entire life. I was in from Sunday- Saturday and every single day I received the very best care from all members of staff from my team of doctors, the nurses, HCA’s and domestics. I must also mention the food was delicious even though I couldn’t eat much! Everyone was just absolutely fantastic. The nurses were of course absolutely incredible. Special shout out to both Lyndsey who held my hand when I was at my lowest and Lewis who put up with my post anaesthetic blethering! They were both so kind and caring when I felt at my most vulnerable.

I am a nurse myself and I know how much pressure all the staff are under and how difficult things are at the moment but you would never know that from the staff that took care of me. They were all so kind, caring, professional and attentive. We even managed a few laughs! I really can’t thank everyone enough in both wards 207 and 208. They are all incredible.

Dear Lindsay576

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted to hear that you felt well cared for during what must have been an incredibly difficult and frightening time for you. It is wonderful to know that our team helped you feel supported and safe throughout your stay.

Your kind words about the doctors, nurses, HCAs, domestics, and the catering team mean a great deal to us. I will make sure to pass on your special mention to Lyndsay and Lewis, they will be thrilled to know their compassion and care made such a difference when you were feeling most vulnerable.

As a fellow nurse, your recognition of the pressures staff face and your appreciation of their professionalism and kindness is especially meaningful. We are proud of our team and the way they strive to provide the very best care, even in challenging times.

We hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards

Fiona
