"Long wait in agony"

About: South Tyneside District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I fell after a heart attack the fortnight before and was brought in by ambulance. 13 hours I was there, I couldn't walk and was in agony down my left side, I asked to go to the toilet 5 times and didn't get taken, was told its just a bad leg strain. I was purple from my hip to my foot and still can't walk a week later. On my records it says no codeine as I had an addiction a few years back, a staff member asked if I wanted codeine and I said definitely not so they sent my son for my meds at discharge and they had given me 4 boxes of them. I asked for crutches and was told no. If I could I would refuse to go there again as in my opinion they didn't seem to care.
