I recently had a blood test at my GP surgery in Enfield. The nurse first tried to take blood from my left arm, then used the same needle to try the other arm after the first attempt didn’t work. I was surprised and concerned because I understood that a new, sterile needle should be used each time.
This made me feel quite anxious and worried about infection control and patient safety. I expected proper hygiene and single-use needles during any procedure. I’d appreciate reassurance that this will be looked into and steps taken to ensure it doesn’t happen again to anyone else.
