I recently attended Falkirk vaccination centre for a Flu vaccine and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
I joined the queue and I could see the staff were busy and were doing their best to keep the queue moving. I could see they were all working hard.
However I did notice that a few of the staff members administering vaccines did have on long sleeved NHS navy fleeces which is against infection control guidelines.
After a few questions form the health care assistant who was going to administer my vaccine, a nurse came over to do the final checks, they asked a question that I didn't fully understand. They asked if I had any new allergies since my last visit, this confused me as I had never been in Falkirk Vaccine centre before, I said as much. Their tone was patronising and they talked down to me, stating that I had visited the Stirling vaccine centre in 2023 and that I had lived in Stirling my whole life.
I found the way they spoke and treated me unprofessional and condescending, as far from promote professionalism and trust.
As a former nurse, I understand the strains that nurses are under, but no matter how bad things were I would never of spoken to a patient or another member of staff in that way.
