"Actually cared and made me feel safe"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Neurology

(as the patient),

Honestly, I wasn’t really looking forward to meeting Dr. O’Riordan. I pictured him as my worst case scenario. like, he’s an MS specialist and I was scared that meeting him meant facing a diagnosis I wasn’t ready for. I was bracing myself for a stressful appointment.

I saw Dr. O’Riordan after optic neuritis and omg… he’s seriously the best. super thorough, but also calming and actually listens, like he treats you, not just the scans. He explained everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made me feel like my case mattered, not just another number.

He balanced honesty with reassurance perfectly, didn’t scare me with stats, didn’t push meds unnecessarily, just gave his professional perspective while acknowledging the uncertainties of my situation. walked out feeling informed, understood, and lowkey happy I met him lol.

After 2 months of feeling like my life had been derailed thanks to scary predictions, I finally feel like I can breathe and relax.

10/10 would recommend if you want a super respected neuro who actually cares and makes you feel safe, could have not landed a better one.

Dear byenotdina,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

It’s completely understandable to feel apprehensive before an appointment like that, especially when facing uncertainty around a possible diagnosis. I am glad to hear that Professor. O’Riordan was able to provide not only clinical expertise but also the reassurance you needed at such a difficult time.

I will make sure your kind words are passed on to Professor. O’Riordan and the wider team. It means a great deal to know that your appointment helped restore a sense of calm and confidence.

Wishing you continued strength and clarity on your journey, and thank you again for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and heartfelt review.

Kind regards,

Heather Cramb
