"Thank you for always 'being there'"

About: Parent Support Link

(as a parent/guardian),

My son used drugs but after my husband/his father died, his use escalated to an enormous level. My other son found PSL….they urged him to get me to contact which I did. I was full of shame and self-blame.

With PSL support, attending a few social events, etc I can see the progress I have made in managing the situation….there is still a way to go.

Over the last couple of months I have had face-to-face meetings with Michelle - who explains why I have certain feelings, gives me a confidence boost and confirmation that I am doing the right thing….however slowly. She never makes me feel that I’m wasting her time. Thank you to Michelle and all support workers for ‘being there’.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It takes a lot of courage to reach out and talk openly about such a difficult and personal journey. I can only imagine how challenging it must have been to cope with your son’s struggles, especially after the loss of your husband.

It’s wonderful to hear that PSL and Michelle have been able to support you, help you understand your feelings, and give you confidence that you’re taking the right steps. Progress in situations like this often comes slowly, but every step forward matters, and it’s clear that you’re making positive strides.

We’re so glad to be here for you and your family, and your kind words mean a lot to Michelle and the team. You’re doing an incredible job navigating a very tough situation.
