"All staff were amazing with us in a very stressful time"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Orthopaedics (Ward 3C) Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Physiotherapy

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was hit by a car in October 2024 and suffered a very serious break to her leg.

All staff were amazing with us in a very stressful and upsetting time, as we came in via ambulance late at night I had nothing packed and the staff on ward 3C provided a care package until we could have stuff brought into hospital.

Her surgeon, Dr Rowland was amazing with her and kept us updated on all stages of what would be involved in her care, as she had to have an external fixator fixed to her leg.

The physio were also amazing encouraging her to get up and move about, although my daughter proved to be a bit of a difficult patient 🙈 during our weeks stay she went to the cinema within the hospital which is amazing as gives kids that bit of normality and fun whilst in hospital.

My daughter re-fractured her leg again so we are still frequent at the fracture /frame clinic and all the staff are always so lovely, very welcoming and friendly!

They make the hospital appointments bearable!

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am sorry to hear about your daughter's accident and I can appreciate how difficult a time this must have been for you. I am also sorry to hear that your daughter has re-fractured her leg.

Despite your difficult time it is lovely to hear how amazing the physiotherapy staff have been with your daughter and the encouragement they provided. I will ensure that I pass this lovely feedback onto the physiotherapy team.

I wish your daughter a speedy recovery and hope that you continue to experience a friendly welcome when attending for hospital appointments.

Thank you,

Heather Farish

Physiotherapy Head of Service
