The first time I attended the rehabilitation was 3 years ago where I attended the gym at Clydebank after having an heart attack and was given a warm welcome. I was low in confidence at that point scared to go out myself or attempt any physical exercise. Attending the gym with the nursing and physio professionals helped me gain that confidence back. The team started up a weekly walk/ run in the park which again gave me the confidence to start running on my own.
From this experience I wished to become a NHS volunteer with Cardiac team and in May 2023 was accepted and started giving something back.
My Health deteriorated the end of 2024 and a Heart transplant was my only way forward. I had the transplant in March 2025 and for the past 12 weeks have been back in the rehabilitation programme at Clydebank as well as on a Friday with the walking club.
I was again warmly welcomed back into the programme and the professionalism of all the team and their knowledge of their medical profession and usage of equipment was apparent
The medical team show great commitment in their roles. They listen to everyone’s views and provide great advice on everything heart related including delivering small lectures on health, medicines, fitness healthy eating, relaxation and many more.
I feel that attending the rehab program helped me get my health going back in the right direction I feel stronger mentally and physically because of the rehab.
I would like to thank the whole rehabilitation team for the caring attitude during my time at the gym.
"I feel stronger mentally and physically because of the rehab"
