"G Peg feeding"

About: Intellectual Developmental Disabilities /Learning Disability Services - Community / IDD Community Dieticians

(as a parent/guardian),

My son has arfid and I was struggling on making the decision to get a peg fitted for him, with the help, support and advice from Phil IDD dietitian I was able to come to the decision and it has been worth it. No more stressing over my son eating food which has lifted a massive weight of my shoulders

Due to the way it was explained which has never been explained to me the way Phil and team did I kept saying no for the peg I’m grateful that my son was referred and has the best team not just for him but me too as I feel they just get it and understand and help me to understand too

The care and support that we have received throughout from before his peg operation to having his peg operation and after has been outstanding, phil just an email or call away and all my endless questions get answered quickly which has been amazing and I feel like he really understands my son needs as well as mine too and goes above and beyond to find solutions and adapt stuff for us

Speaking as a mother and seeing your son having a peg fitted and then having thoughts on how am I going to do this has never crossed my mind that’s all thanks to the support from Phil he went through everything with me and took that stress off and due to the amazing communication I know I can just email with any questions or concerns I have, even the respite my son goes to have praised and said to me they have never come across the quick responses before and the care like my son is receiving

There nothing negative to say we had no negative experience all been outstanding positives here

Thanks so much for taking the time to give this feedback and I really appreciate it.

As a parent agreeing to your child having a PEG is a big decision and I am glad you felt supported in terms of making that decision.

Once the tube is placed there are some things that we can predict, but other than we cant as everyone is different, from my perspective it is really important we treat peoples as individual and not just a general person. I am glad you feel we have been responsive and that we understand him as this is why we do the job.

Thanks for your lovely feedback and it is really motivating to know we are doing a good job.

Phil
