"great experience & successful cholecystectomy"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / General Surgery Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Ward 43 Gynaecology FAU/EPAU (Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit) Outpatients Department / Clinic 2 - Respiratory, Medical, Surgical, Urology Patient and Client Council

(as the patient),

Have had severe pains with these gallstones, which had covered the bile duct at times- greatly affected my physical and mental health. There was a mix up regarding my surgery,

I called the Patient and Client Council for guidance on this. The advisor on call was lovely, knowledgeable and helpful throughout the call. The ward manager, Nuala, from outpatients surgery ward was lovely, listened and resolved this- I’m really grateful for this. Thank you very much.

I attended a consultation with Dr Bahli, who with his team carried out my laparoscopic cholecystectomy successfully, better than anticipated! Beth in particular was so friendly and Cathy the anaesthesiologist made me feel safe and reassured throughout. The medical professionals who brought me to theatre were lovely and helped me feel calm by being their kind, caring selves. Every member of the outpatients surgery ward during my stay were excellent- thank you all. Thanks to Dr. Bahli’s surgery receptionist who booked me in- she was really kind and wished me well! Special thanks to Gayle, Dr Bahli’s secretary- she was empathetic, proactive and caring throughout the past few months and she was the main reason I kept positive- you’re an Angel Gayle!

The staff in Ward 43 were fantastic- every member of staff were welcoming, friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful to me and the other patients! The staff nurses whose care I was under during my stay were fantastic- I was in great hands the whole time and this ward was one of the best I’ve ever stayed in.

Starting to get back on my feet again, in better health and a happier mindset- thank you’s very much- I appreciate this more than I can say in words.
