Recently my grandfather attended A&E, and subsequently was admitted to MAU, AMRU, and Ward 17 in UHM.
He was made to feel comfortable and cared for throughout all departments, staff were nothing but kind and considerate and went above and beyond for him and our family.
We were all kept informed about his condition, what was happening and why certain tests/imaging were being carried out.
This gave us great reassurance at a stressful time and helped us feel confident that he was in safe hands.
He speaks fondly of a certain doctor in A&E and a nurse in AMRU - I am unsure of their names but he is forever grateful for their care and general manner.
We would especially like to thank Amy in Ward 17, she is truly an angel. Her compassion, patience, and genuine warmth made such a difference to my grandfather and to our whole family. She treated him not just as a patient, but as a person - with dignity, kindness, and a smile every single time. She involved him in his own care, explained everything thoroughly and helped him to feel reassured in what was a very scary time for him. It's clear she was born to be a nurse, and we will never forget the comfort and reassurance she gave us during his stay, I hope she continues to make the NHS a better service for years to come.
"Excellent care - some people are born to be nurses"
