"No welcome to the hospital"

About: Epsom Hospital Epsom Hospital / Cardiology

(as a service user),

My husband had an appointment for an Echocardiogram....brilliant...on a SUNDAY...seen early and finished 3 minutes after appointment time!

HOWEVER......while I was waiting for him an elderly couple appeared having rung 111 and been told to go to the Emergency treatment Centre.

They were dropped off by taxi at the main entrance and were trying to find where to go. The gentleman was struggling  to walk and there wasn't a soul in the entrance hall to advise them .. or any sign of a much needed wheelchair!

Surely a smiley welcoming  face would not go amiss in the Main Entrance of a Hospital!

And maybe a wheelchair!

I decided that it must be A&E area having found someone to ask and helped them at a very slow pace all the way through the entire hospital...outside ...and then round to A and E.....a very long walk  for someone in pain.

I know it was a Sunday.......but for them to enter the hospital and find not a soul anywhere and no wheelchairs seems unbelievable.

I'm a retired nurse so do appreciate the problems but that wasn't a great experience for the poor souls who then probably then had several hours to wait in A and E!
