"Kind, compassionate and amazing at what they do"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I first visited ward 16 a week before our baby was born with high blood pressure. Every single midwife who I dealt with over the three visits were kind, caring and amazing at their jobs.

The following week I called labour ward that I thought I was in labour , the midwife Sarah was amazing on the phone, calm and caring and gave me advice, calmed me and re assured me.

When it was time for me to come in to labour ward we were met by our Midwife Mia, I couldn’t have got through the day without her she is amazing at her job, she kept us updated with the plan, re assured both me and my birthing partner and then when things got scary and it was decided that I was to go for an emergency c section she was amazing she kept me calm and kept us updated how baby was doing at all times. All of the other midwife’s , doctors/ consultants on labour ward I met too were calm kind compassionate and amazing at what they do.

Every single person in theatre was amazing, they were calming and re assuring and made a very scary time for me and my partner a little less scary with their kindness.

Once we left theatre we went to ward 16 where Mia got to stay with me until the end of her shift and I also got then meet my midwife who looked after me overnight Helena, she is another who is amazing at her job she looked after both myself and my baby amazingly and took our baby away for a couple of hours overnight so I could get some rest, I am so grateful to her at a time where I felt very fragile she looked after me and my baby so well.

In the morning I then met our midwife who looked after us for the day, Christina again another midwife who is amazing at her job, she treated me and my baby with kindness calmness and looked after us amazingly.

Mia, Christina and Helena are three ladies I will never forget and will forever be so grateful how they treated me , my partner and our beautiful daughter.

Every single member of staff between pregnancy assessment unit, ward 16 labour ward and theatre we have met throughout my pregnancy and delivery are all amazing people and amazing at what they do, so a massive thank you.
