I had volunteered to drive my neighbour to the community hospital at Whipton for an appointment. (How refreshing to find there was no charge for parking. We didn't know where the hospital was so were already a little anxious).
My neighbour is an extremely reluctant patient who had only been outside her front door twice in approximately the last 4+ years!
She finds it very hard to be on her legs and currently has very painful feet. She was frightened about the outcome and had admitted to the doctor she just wanted to be left alone.
Thankfully our local surgery and the hospital didn't take the easy way out!
My neighbour wants to pass on her sincere thanks to the special kindness particularly shown by the two nursing staff Sheila and Megan.
They took time to suggest the daily routine that would help my neighbour be more comfortable when home and since our visit four days ago their advice has been followed.
The doctor listened to the wishes of my neighbour and was able to reassure her that she had control of her medical care and the team would not do anything without her permission.
My neighbour was so relieved she cried at the time and has been in tears of relief every time she reflects on her visit.
Once again, our gratitude to David, Sheila, Megan and the whole team at Whipton.
"So relieved she cried"
