"Said I was not in a serious enough condition to be there"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I attended on my GP's advice with severe pain in my stomach. On arrival into a & e the lady on reception was lovely. The support workers were absolute amazing at their job. But the Doctor who i saw said i was not in a serious enough condition to be there just because my bloods were okish. Yet I was in agony. I asked for pain relief three times but did not get any.

I feel this is not good care. It is appalling leaving patients without adequate pain relief. I attended the department to access help and care not to be made to feel worse. I have raised complaints in the past and not even received a letter of apology. Every patient deserves to be treated with compassion and care. I understand the NHS is at it's highest but this kind of care is unacceptable. I ended up calling 111 to be taken in via ambulance which could have been avoided.

Thank you for your feedback. I am really sorry to hear about your experience - this is not how we want our patients to be treated. Please be assured that this will be passed on to the relevant teams. In addition, please reach out to our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) so that this can be effectively investigated at 01302 642764, 01302 642767, or email dbth.pals.dbh@nhs.net.

Kind regards,

Dionne
