"The whole journey has been a positive one"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Day surgery Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Pre-Operative Assessment

(as the patient),

I recently had my hysterectomy surgery in the QEUH. My surgeon Dr Datsun and the Endometriosis specialist have been informative and professional from start to finish. This was my 5th and biggest surgery which I was slightly anxious about. I want to extend my thanks to every staff member in the pre-op department who answered any questions I had. What a lovely team of people. My thanks to the team who looked after me pre and post op. The anaesthetist, Dr and nurse who explained everything thoroughly as I was nervous about the spinal, the theatre staff , recovery team and gynae staff in ward 49 for keeping my dignity intact. The whole journey has been a positive one. Having an Endometriosis specialist nurse as part of this team is a huge plus. What an asset to feel that Endometriosis is finally taken seriously. Thank you all .

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your lovely feedback following your recent hysterectomy at the QEUH. I’m so pleased to hear that your experience — from pre-op through to your recovery on Ward 49 — was such a positive one.

It’s wonderful to know that Dr Datsun, our Endometriosis Specialist, and all the staff involved in your care provided reassurance, professionalism, and compassion throughout what must have been an anxious time for you. I’m especially glad that our Endometriosis Specialist Nurse, Rosie, helped you feel supported and heard — we are very proud to have this role as part of our team.

Your kind words will be shared with everyone you mentioned — the pre-op, anaesthetic, theatre, recovery, and ward teams — who will be delighted to know they helped make your experience as comfortable and dignified as possible.

On behalf of us all, thank you once again for your thoughtful message. Wishing you a smooth and full recovery.

With warm regards,

Nikki
