"The whole team were truly fantastic."

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

Sent to A&E by GP after I was worried my son had appendicitis (he did)! A&E and all theatre staff were amazing, swift investigations and treatment from everyone involved. Special thanks to Heather (A&E CSW) and Paul (ODP) for their reassuring words and distractions - my son is autistic and they couldn’t have handled him better if they tried! Big thanks also to the surgical registrars and anaesthetists (can’t remember names) the whole team were truly fantastic.

He is now recuperating on the ward (minus his appendix)

Dear Gingercow,

I am sorry to hear your son attended our Emergency Department with appendicitis. I am pleased to hear he is now recovering on the ward after his surgery.

I am the Clinical Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department and it is great to read that the staff were amazing and he received swift investigations and treatment. I have personally thanked Heather for helping distract him.
