I was recently admitted for surgery to remove vulval cancer. The staff at the SDAU were lovely, got me organized and took me up to Gyn theatres. All the theatre staff were all so kind and professional, which put me at ease.
When I was admitted to Ward 56 for recovery I was looked after with kindness, compassion and a good dose of laughter.
Unfortunately, I had complications and had to return to theater a further 3 times. What was a very traumatic and emotional experience was made much more bearable by the wonderful staff who helped both myself and my husband. When feeling very vulnerable and fragile I was cared for with empathy, given my dignity back, and was able to come through the other side smiling.
The ward was so busy, but every single person would give you their time and help when needed. If I had any questions they were answered, if I needed something from my wee cupboard (when I was on bed rest) nothing was too much trouble. In the very trying times we are having our NHS gets bad press, the entire staff of this ward from domestics and porters through to all the HCSWs, nurses and doctors are dedicated and are an absolute credit to GGC.
From the two Sharons washing my hair for me so that I felt more comfortable, to having a great chat and laughing with Carol, Tricia and Elaine about lunches. Sophie singing to me was a particular highlight, Holly talking about secret santa and Christmas nights out, all of these were exactly the distraction that I needed to make me see things weren’t so bad. Taylor, both Caitlyns, both Emmas, Heather, Jemma, Jen, Kim, Bridie, Bianca, and everyone else that I know I will have missed, thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
"Best staff and treatment"
