"Loved coming here and talking to others"

About: Outpatient Clinic

(as a relative),

My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer which has now spread into his bones. His GP referred him to St. Margaret’s Hospice in Clydebank as an outpatient where he came to on a Friday. My father loved coming here and talking to others and the staff are absolutely amazing.

Dear vegaxp78,

Thank you for taking the time to provide some feedback regarding your father’s care. We are sorry to hear of his diagnosis. My name is Adrian Dawson, Clinical Systems Manager, here at St Margaret of Scotland Hospice. On behalf of all our staff, we are delighted that your father loved coming as an outpatient on a Friday. Let me kindly just say, we loved having him with us too 😊

I would love to share some thoughts with you if I may?

I think that the world we now live in, it can often be underestimated or even taken for granted, how important talking to others can have on our mental and physical wellbeing. Perhaps we can shy away from difficult conversations due to anxiety or fearful of the future or whatever it may be. We are not fearful of this here at our Hospice. We welcome these discussions. We welcome openness and transparency. We welcome the positive conversations. We welcome the potential negative conversations. We welcome learning and opportunity to meet some wonderful people who shape our organisation into what it is. People like your father.

Our staff at St Margaret’s Hospice go above and beyond for our patients and their families, 24 hours per day. That is why feedback such as yours is vital to us in not only understanding our patients and their families but to also improve our services continually.

Thank you once again for your feedback. If you ever wish to talk or reach out to us, then please do not hesitate to contact our team on 0141 952 1141 or email us via office@smh.org.uk. Further information can be found on our website www.smh.org.uk.

Take good care,

Adrian
