"Walking group"

About: Public Health Nursing / Health Visiting Service

(as a service user),

I recently joined the walking group run by our local Health Visitor, Ann, and it’s honestly been one of the best things I’ve done since having my baby. Getting out of the house with a newborn isn’t always easy, but knowing there’s a friendly group waiting each week has made such a difference.

Ann is so welcoming and down to earth — she makes everyone feel comfortable, whether you’re a new mum trying to find your feet or just looking for a bit of adult conversation. The walks are at an easy pace, perfect for pushing the pram and chatting along the way. It’s a lovely mix of gentle exercise, fresh air, and good company.

What I really appreciate is how supportive the group feels. We talk about all sorts of things — from feeding and sleep to just how we’re feeling that week — and Ann is always there with reassuring advice and encouragement. It’s helped me feel less isolated and more confident as a mum.

I always leave feeling calmer, more positive, and proud that I’ve done something for myself and my baby.

I’d recommend this walking group to any mum looking for a bit of fresh air, connection, and gentle motivation. It’s such a simple idea, but it’s made a big difference to my wellbeing.
