"Breastfeeding support"

About: Children, Young People and Families and Specialist Primary Care / Infant Feeding

(as a service user),

The first 2/3 weeks of breastfeeding my baby were just awful. I was in so much pain but determined to get through it. Jodie (breastfeeding support worker) came to my house twice and with just one little adjustment, he was able to get a deeper latch whilst she was there and this gave me the confidence to push through and I am still breastfeeding one year later. She is so knowledgeable and a major reason we were able to get through the really tough times.

Thanks so much for sharing your story. I'm sorry that you struggled with breastfeeding in the first 2-3 weeks. It sounds like you've been very determined to overcome the early issues. I'm so pleased you found Jodie's support helpful. I will make sure Jodie is aware. She is very passionate, as is the whole team, about supporting parents and carers with their feeding goals. It's fantastic that you are breastfeeding at one year- this is so good to hear!
