I started my therapy over a year ago with Aimee, she has been an amazing support for myself which I am entirely grateful for.
EMDR was a slow start as I had very little to no memory of being sexually assaulted 8 yrs ago and a lot going on with home life. Once I cut off distractions I was blown away with what I seen in my sessions. I questioned myself for years thinking how could this happen to me, I couldn't believe it so how could anyone else, maybe I'd imagined it and I used alcohol as a coping mechanism. (Sober for 3/4yrs now)I was stuck in my bedroom (safe place) for a few years, I can now venture out to the shops etc calmly with someone, still some anxiety when alone but not as panicky as I have been. I now feel life is getting back on track, not 100% but proud I'm getting there.
EMDR has helped me stop questioning myself constantly and accept what happened and it's not my fault. Aimee has helped me understand what I seen in sessions, to reflect a lot on my life and helped me understand I do not need people in my life that don't support or have good intentions for myself and children.
I highly recommend EMDR therapy to everyone it's absolutely blew me away, the only way I can explain it is like watching yourself in a dream.
Forever grateful
